If you do have a gas hob at home, you’re one of the lucky ones! Gas hobs are one of the units that are easy to clean. You would only need simple everyday items to clean it, and you should be good to go. But that doesn’t mean that you should completely forget to clean them! A clean gas hob will be more efficient than a dirty one. When they are clean, they can transfer heat more effectively to your cookware. By cleaning them you would also ensure the shine is retained, and overall prettier to look at! 

1. Make sure the cooktop is turned off and cooled down 

The first step is to always make sure the cooktop is cooled down before you start cleaning. You wouldn’t want to burn your hand while cleaning them! Then, take off all the parts and components of the burner. 

2. Cleaning stains  

If the cooktop has only mild stains that aren't annoying, then you can use a soft cloth to wipe them off. But if there are oil stains, then you can add a little bit of cleaning liquid or soap. A tip! If you want your hob to have the perfect glossy finish, wipe it with a white vinegar-soaked clean cloth and buff it to perfection.  

3. Cleaning the components  

You can clean the iron grid and other components with soap and warm water. Then, wipe and dry them. You can also clean them with a cleaning sponge, soft brush, or wire brush. If they have crust stains, use a mixture of water and soap and then soak the components for 30-60 minutes. 

4. Wipe them all clean and dry!  

After everything, make sure you wipe them all dry before putting them back on the hob. And don’t forget to test that everything works okay after you clean them. Just a tip, to make your steel hob shine, apply a layer of baby oil, and it will get rid of fingerprints as well as help get off stains easily the next time.
