Cooking is definitely one of the activities that could kill time when you’re stuck at home during a pandemic. Although cooking comes with many benefits, it also comes with downsides too. Mainly, it’s the smell caused by the smoke that wouldn’t seem to go away. But, worry not, below are some tips that you could try to get rid of the annoying odor.
1. Get yourself a cooker hood to absorb all the smoke
One of the most effective ways is to install a cooker hood in your kitchen. It can immediately absorb all the smoke and steam before it even got to spread around your house! Though, if you’re not planning to install one, then you can always make sure the ventilation of your kitchen works perfectly for the smoke to filter out.
2. Leave a bowl of coffee powder
Coffee contains nitrogen that works to neutralize odors. You can try leaving a bowl of coffee powder on the kitchen counter for a couple of hours to help erase any bad smell.
3. Try boiling spices or lemon
You can also try boiling spices or lemon! There are other benefits to spices aside from making delicious meals. If you have spices such as cinnamon, cloves, or lemon in your kitchen, it’s time to get creative with it and try cutting the lemon into two pieces and add boiling water into a bowl. Try leaving it for around 10 minutes, the steam will neutralize the odor of the room.
4. Make a DIY air freshener spray
Did you know? There are lots of stuff in our houses that could absorb the smells such as our curtains, rugs, and pillows. Now, if you do cook every day, it would be much better if you have an air freshener spray! You could even make it yourself with a mix of water, baking soda, and some lemon essential oil in a spray bottle. This mixture also works well as a fragrance!
