Tracing the History and Popularity of Meatballs

Bakso, a timeless Indonesian iconic dish, has a long and rich history. Believed to have originated in China, it has adapted to local flavors and become a crowd favorite. The distinctive aroma of meatballs always tantalizes the taste buds and evokes fond memories.

Finding Traces of Meatball History

While the exact origin of meatballs is uncertain, many theories link them to Chinese culture. One popular theory states that meatballs were first brought by the Chinese to the Dutch East Indies in the 17th century. Archaeological evidence shows the similarity of meatballs to Chinese meatballs. Over time, the dish has evolved with a variety of unique flavors and textures in Indonesia, becoming a widely loved favorite.
