Dessert enthusiasts are gathered at MODENA Experience Center Kemang on Thursday night, 18 November. Countless samples of various desserts are being displayed for guests to munch on—from ice creams to Bombolones—guests are free to taste whichever sweets they fancy that night. This marks the final night and the closing of ‘Jakarta Dessert Week’.
MODENA also takes part in the event which was held on October 25 – November 14 with a cooking demo from Chef Christo, as a part of Top 6 from Masterchef Indonesia, where he showed the step-by-step guide to make the ultimate Tiramisu cake. The 'Jakarta Dessert Week' event has entered its third year, by bringing a myriad of choices of dessert and pastry menus from various dessert culinary businesses in Indonesia.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia has made this event a part of the 2021 Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN), which is one of the government's efforts to encourage the restoration of the creative economy in Indonesia. The creation of this parekraf event is expected to help move the national economy which has been heavily affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are very happy to be able to support this very special event, it is also a part of our responsibility to rebuild and restore the culinary business, which has been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Tommy Pratomo, as Head of Corporate Communications of MODENA. "We believe we will achieve success again in no time by supporting one another.”
JDW is the largest dessert festival in Indonesia that aims to support the dessert and pastry industry in Jakarta by providing creative space for food lovers. The cake shops and restaurants selected are based on a curatorial process, with assessments covering product quality and their narrative.
